Sherri - an Ameroonian or Camerican?

It seems crazy to FINALLY start blogging after living here for more than 5 years. I've completely lost the wide-eyed wonder of a brand new missionary in a brand new country. Honestly, at this point, I'm pretty much Cameroonian. I eat the food, I'm no longer the most punctual person on the planet, and I'm pretty fluent in Pidgin English. I wish I could go back and recapture the first year of living here. Being amazed at the differences in lives and cultures. The food, the music, the dance, the pace, the lifestyle, mindsets - and the sweet simplicity of it all. I used to say that I get on the plane for 24 hours and when I step out of the airport, it's more like emerging onto another planet rather than another country. I still feel that way, except that I no longer feel like an alien. Instead, coming home to Atlanta has started to feel stranger and more foreign than coming home to sweet, calm, peaceful Buea.

So I want to try to capture my life here and share it with you - the good, the bad, and the ugly. I hope you'll laugh and cry and experience life to the fullest with me as I invite you on my journey - the Chronicles of a Diva Missionary.
